Spiral Christmas Tree Decorating Sticks

You can make your own Christmas tree in one evening. It's light and delicate and looks extraordinary. It hardly takes any space, you can assemble and disassemble it with ease. You can make it of any size by either increasing or reducing the number of chains of the initial round.

The height of my Christmas tree is 12 cm.
Materials:
- Green yarn, (acrylic or cotton) of your choice. The consumption is minimal. I used acrylic yarn, 250 m / 100 g
- White yarn, smooth or fluffy. I used Polyester breeze by Yarnart 200 m / 100 gr
- A crochet hook, I used 1,5 mm crochet hook
- A piece of wire approx. 1,0-1,5mm thick and 60 cm long
- A wooden stick for the trunk. I used a sushi chopstick.
-. A plastic lid with a high rim, for example from coffee jar.
- Decorations of your choice: beads, sequins, tinsel, paper snowflakes

Abbreviations:
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
dc - double crochet
inc – increase (2 sc in 1 st)
(...) x N times – repeat instructions in brackets N times

Christmas tree
Crochet with green colour yarn.
Ch 150
1) Starting from 2nd ch from hook: (3 sc, inc)×5 times, (4 sc, inc)×5 times, (5 sc, inc)×5 times, (6 sc, inc)×5 times, (7 sc, inc)×4 times , 7 sc, 1 ch, turn =174
You should get a spiral.

Continue by making Christmas tree branches:
2) (skip 1 loop, 5 dc in 1 loop, skip 1 loop, 1 sl st)× 43 times, skip 1 loop, 5 dc in the last loop =258

Do not turn, continue in rounds (see the arrow on the photo).

Prepare a piece of wire, it should be of the same length as the crocheted part. Use the wire that bends easily but keeps its shape, e.g. florist wire. Make a loop on the end of the wire. Attach it to 1st stich.  Make one row of sc by grabbing the loops and the wire at the same time. Thus the wire will hide on the inside.

Fasten off, cut off.
Twist the part to form a spiral. Take the centre of the spiral and stretch it upwards a little as shown on the photo.

Top
1) 6 sc in a Magic Ring (6)
2) (inc, 1 sc)×3 times  (9)
3) (inc, 2 sc)×3  times (12)
4-5) 12 sc
6) (1 dec, 2 sc)×3 times  (9)
7-8) 9 sc

Cut off yarn, fasten off. Leave the tip for sewing.
Sew the top from Spot A to Spot B.

Stand
Take a plastic lid with a high rim, for example a lid from a coffee jar. Make a hole in the centre with a thick sewing needle or an awl. Take a pair of sharp scissors and make the hole larger.

Insert a wooden stick into the hole. I used 2/3 of a sushi chopstick.

Snow
Take white colour yarn (fluffy or smooth) and make a circle that will equal the size of the lid.
1) Ch 7, join the round with a ss. (7)
2) 7 inc (14)
3) (1 sc, inc)×7 times (21)
4) (2 sc, inc)×7 times (28)
5) (3 sc, inc)×7 times (35)
6) (4 sc, inc)×7 times (42)
Try the circle over the lid, see if it fits well. Reduce or increase the number of rounds if required.
Make a few more circles to cover the rim of the lid. Stop when the lid is fully covered.

7-11) 42 sc
Fasten off, cut off.

Glue the 'snow' to the lid. Insert the chopstick in the centre.

Put the Christmas tree on the trunk.

Decorate at your discretion. The spiral Christmas tree is completed! My other crochet patterns are in my store https://www.crazypatterns.net/en/items/54993/santa-claus-crochet-pattern
